What Has Fear Cost You?

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea. Psalms 46:1, 2

The steely grip of fear can have a firm hold on us. Some of us have been paralyzed by fear for so long that we believe changing our lives to escape discomforting situations and living a life of avoidance is normal.

We may feel that we’re doing what’s best and being sensible, but are we really growing? When we actually stop to think about it, it’s frightening to consider what fear is truly costing us: better relationships, successful businesses, self-esteem, and self-respect. Even our spiritual lives are affected. Can you imagine what your life would be like if you completely put your trust in God?

Regret is a terrible thing to experience. So, we convince ourselves that our lives lack nothing and that the way we’re living is the best we can expect from this life, while we secretly long for something more. Are you completely satisfied with your life? It’s not about only avoiding danger or physical harm, thriving is about a faith that is alive and fed with a healthy dose of prayer.

The Lord encourages us to see ourselves free of chains and renewed with purpose. Yes, uncertainty and troubling situations are a fact of life. However, we can have the victory over fear. Because of Jesus, we no longer have to be held captive to fear. Right now, ask the Lord to free you from anything that is holding you back from experiencing an abundant life in Him.
